GREAT cuz i just got 3000 of the British SS109 and my buddy didnt want any cuz he said it would be bad...i told him to STFU.

I shoot it all the time in a 1/9 barrel accuracy is good.

I think the 62 grain bullet is ideal for the 1:9 twist....
More info can be found at the ammo oracle. A 1:9 twist can easily manage 55 to 69 grain bullets with sustainable accuracy if you do your part. |

Here why I wont buy SS109 ammo. http://www.peace-through-victory.com/dammage.html Sorry don't know how to make it hot. The ss109 is why they had such a hard time putting down the druged up guys in Somalia in 1993.

Yup - I've shot both 68 and 69 grain in my 1/9 barrel without problems. |

Great...
I knew our government had it all wrong. Hell with all the YEARS of research and field development they used to determine that M855 should be the standard US and NATO ammo. I bet that they feel real dumb knowing all they really needed was one round each M855, M193 and two pumpkins. Nice try. |

I've seen at least 30 people shot with M855 (SS109 bullet) that did not live through the experience. Does it fragment as reliably as M193? No. Is its ineffectiveness waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overhyped? Hell yes. |

I've shot 77g through my RRA 1/9 20" barrel with great results. I haven't tried any 80g yet..
 Try different bullets 45-77g through your 1/9 and see how it does. |

It'll run very well and do so at distance (under 300 yards who cares and if you're keeping it for anything less than 100 yards, the bullet weight won't matter). Like others have said though, get some samples first and see what the rifle likes. You might find that a super cheap 55gr. loan works as well (or acceptably as well) and costs 2/3's as much.

Well, I've never seen anyone shot with it, but I can tell you with 100% confidence that I would never stand in front of one. Also, bullet selection depends on environment too. IE....cold climates where medium sized game has a thick coat of fur ....or an insulated parka....SS109 might be preferable. With grains from 55-77, there's lots to choose from. It's just another testament why the AR15 platform is the most modular and efficient firearm in the market today. |
