I picked these items up same place where I've been a lot of my pets from recently. Same Colt employee from the 60's. I grabbed these and need info. 2 different styles and colors. Slots are different the lighter one is thinner on the inside and looks like it was tacked to a barrel and cut at one time. Anybody know timeline or info on these?

I think the top one is a non-Colt 1980s era item (sold by - maybe - Nesard or Bushmaster), and the bottom one is a 1990s era non-Colt item (possibly an Olympic Arms item... Can't remember for sure).  I am pretty sure I have one of each of those in my stash.  I'll try to look tomorrow and get back to you.

Below is a pic of my stash of 1980s-2000s reproduction "XM177-style" flash hiders, for comparison's sake.

My apologies for the poor photo quality.  Had to use the phone and short on time.

Note that the real deals have a step down at the rear, which has wrench flats milled into that section, and a weld bead around the step attaching the inner and outer sections.  Also look at the slot shapes, the Colts all have squared off ends, rather than coming to points.

So did Colt never have a mock up like this or anything like these? Just the real deal? The one on the top of my picture I haven't seen in pictures.

OP your top FH is BM.  Part # MMT-500.  5.5" extended FH.  Were real popular in 90's for XM177ish builds. About the only game in town.  Long since clearanced out.  Were pretty heavy and kinda ruined carbine balance but those interested didn't much care or know what a decent balanced weapon was.
