I have some .5.56 ammo that was given to me I'm trying to identify. The are all LC ammo. 25 of them have a dark cream tan color tips on them. Some are 92 dated cases and some is older. Did the original steel core was it this color before they went to the green tip? Seems I read somewhere they were another color before they were green but i can't find any pictures on the net of ones this color. I got 3 rds that are the dark shiny green tips and I'm thinking they are steel core. 2 rds are orange tip. Thats tracer right? Pictures I have taken does not show the tip color correctly the color they are so I'm not posting them right now.

What is the yellow looking one? The second one that looks yellow. Mine is very dull, duller that that one and I'm wondering if its the same? Mine looks like a dark tan like the 3rd picture below.

Its a LC 88 case. Its a yellow/green color. The orange tip is also LC88
Its a very early M855, and M856

I guess it's that duplex round Winchester made a number of decades ago. I can't think of any other that would have a yellow tip.

I held the one I have up to your 1st pic, and its a color match to the round on the left.
My yellowishgreenish is LC88 and a magnet sticks. Same with the orange LC88 orange tip.

Whats the headstamp on the stuff you have?

Anyone know the  J C 6 headstamp?

Head stamp LC 92 and nato crosshair on the tan ones. The two tracers that are orange are same but 86 date code. The one green steel core is 92 date code. Mine don't look yellow at all I guess some how due to age and what ever they were exposed to turned them tan. A magnet does stick to the bullets so I know it is the old M855. I would like to get some samples of every type they made in different calibers like you got mybronco2.
