Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum for posting but I've been educating myself here for quite some time.  I decided to sign up to post to let you know about a purchase I just made yesterday at the Big Reno Gun Show here in NEVADA.

I just picked up the first of 10 or so Uppers by Olyimpic Arms for the 5.45x39 round.

16" barrel flat top.  The original configuration came with the standard hand guard and front sight so I had them put on a free float quad rail and gas block.  It has the standard A2 flash hider.  I added a fore handle and sling mount.  Along with an inexpensive green laser and LED light.

It attached to my Stag Arms lower smoothly.  It came with 1 15 round CProducts mag with a Magpus 6.8 follower I also picked up a 25 round rounder.

I took it out on a very windy Sunday at the range to sight my scope and only put about 50 rounds through it before I decided it was a lost cause.

I've post some pictures for your review.  My target shows the tight group I was able to squeeze off in between 25-30 mph gusts.  There are two flyers shown due gusts at the last minute (I'm sticking to that).  Target was only at about 50 yards for sighting.

At the great price of 5.45x39 I'm looking forward to much shooting.  I clean my firearms after each shoot so I'm not too worried about the corrosive surplus ammo available. 1080 rounds for $120 can't be beat.

Thanks

How much did you pay?

Nice looking gun.

Thanks

The basic kit was $575 with the full upper assembly and 15 round mag.  The quad rail and gas block cost an extra $150.   It was all assembled and ready to go.

I forgot to metion they also gave me a heavier trigger spring due to the different gas pressure but I haven't installed it yet.  I fired off 50 rounds with no problems with the stock spring.

The next run is supposed to be 100 units or so I'm told.

FYI, i've been told that the HK manufactured 5.56 AR mags will work at/near capacity with the 5.45 round. I stumbled across this in my search for 7.62x39 AR mags, someone (Wilson barrels? I don't remember who for sure, sorry) was testing a 5.45 upper and said they had been using HK mags.

The only drawback is how expensive the HK mag is, but if it works at hi-cap, it's worth it. That may or may not indicate other AR mags could work, do that at your own risk, all I know about is the HK one.

The guys at the show told me about the HK mags too.  I looked around at the show and they were running about $60 for a 25 rounder.
