I'm not trying to start anything up I really would like some advice about which dot size to get in a Aimpoint. I don't have any way of trying out both before I buy. I don't "plan" on shooting the rifle past 75-100 yards as a HD weapon so 10 yards would probably be the distance I would be shooting this rifle inside a house.

I know there are alot of vets with recent combat experience in CQB in urban environments so what say you? 2mil or 4mil?

I prefer 2 MOA, but I'm okay with either

Depends upon what you plan on shooting and how. Smaller dot size will allow a more precise shot. Larger dot will make it easier to find and shoot faster.

I prefer the 2 MOA.  If you need a bigger dot, you can always turn up the brightness and the dot will look larger.

Most will recommend the 2moa, with one exception.

If you are in areas with very high brightness like snow or open deserts, the 4moa dot will look crisper at the highest brightness settings.

2 MOA, 2 inches at 100 yards, 4 inches at 200 yards, 6 inches at 300 yards, 8 inches at 400 yd, 10 inches at 500 yd. It covers two more inches of the target every hundred yards.
or
4 MOA 4 inches at 100 yards, 8 inches at 200 yeards, 12 inches at 300 yards, 16 at 400 yd, 20 at 500.  It covers four more inches of the target every hundred yards.

2 MOA is easy to see, even in bright areas.  Just turn it up if need be.  The only time it's not visible will be the same as with 4 MOA... when aiming right at an extremely bright object. Like the sun or a spotlight.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd definitely opt for the 2moa. You're able to get more precise shots the further out you shoot and thats an added bonus IMO.

The 2 moa dot is also better for people with astigmatism. Smaller dot equals less blooming.

I would normally recommend/use a smaller dot (2MOA) but from what YOU describe YOUR use (in home defense) I would think the 4MOA would be better.  The bigger the dot, the easier it is to see and pick up quickly.  The downside is less precision at distance, but even at your max ranges of 75-100 yds you should easily be able to target center mass or even head shots.  At inside the house distance the bigger dot won't effect precision at all.

I know you say you can't, but I've always been a huge proponent of looking though sights before you buy them.  Was a real eye opener for me when I picked up my first red dot optic.

4 MOA.. All this talk of precision from a optic that was built for close in speed in a Close in Dynamic scenario always amazes me. Look at what the Action shooters use for a MOA on there Red dot sights... nary one is running a 2 MOA... more like 8 MOA and up.  When your under stress and your start to get tunnel vision, your not going to want to search for your dot, I want that MFer big and blazing and covering the target...

As far as precision, the front sight post on a AR is 9 MOA.... and those shooters have no issues cutting the X on a 600 yd target.
The EO guys always claim they love the 65 MOA ring... again, not needing to search for the dot under stress.

I have ran 4 MOA dots on My M2 and T-1 for many years.. they work extremely well.. And since I don't use a Magnifier, that negates the need for me on the 2 MOA as well.

End of the day, you need to decide what you want to do and then pick the right tool.
