what should i go with? rifle will be used mostly for target practice 200-300yrds., i've read about chrome lining-that it "may" :) hurt precission, but what about SS overall use? Rob NJ.

You will see SS on most critter weapons.

Stainless ought to be better for your purposes, but please don't get the 24" barrel. From 20 to 28 inches the 5.56/.223 gains usually around 100 fps.

Pop cans at 200; dosen't matter.

In order to realy see the difference you're going to have to buy match (read $$) ammo or start reloading (read $$$$$ to get started and about a 2 year pay back not counting your time).

hmm..., how about this one pcr-1 http://www.olyarms.com/usa.html , so there is no reason for me going with 24"? i'm asking cause this is gonna be my first ar type rifle; or should i go with armalite's .308? Rob NJ.

Stick with an AR15 the first time around, and yes, 20" is a lot handier, and you dont need the extra 50fps.
