I am looking to buy my 2nd Ar and want a M4, but I don't know if I want the 14" or 16". I will use it for general plinking and fun. Which do you all prefer, and is more fun? I did a search but found no info. I have read all of the shot velocities and range differs, and that does not matter to me. Does the 2" make that big of a deal when having fun? I love my 20" rifle, but need a new toy.

Why go with 14" when you'll still need a muzzle device to make it as long as a 16 inch to begin with. You can plink just the same distance with 14" and 16"

I love my 20" a4, but for blasting and mag dumps I resort to my plain jane 16" A2.

I was just curious if one was easier to handle and shoot and how they felt compared together.

Well my 16" feels like a paperweight compared to it's bigger brother.

Is it the m4?

it's bigger brother is a 20" A4.

cool, I know that 2" should not be a big deal, but I can't decide. I was scared that the 16" would not be much dirrerent than the 20".

Is muzzle velocity really that important?

I don’t really think so, but that’s just me. All these SHTF scenarios are kinda cute, but I think too many people get all wound up over some pretty insignificant things. If push ever came to shove, I’m pretty sure there’s going to be a laundry list of things that are more important that the inch and a half that you don’t have on your barrel and the 150fps slower your bullet is going.

That said, I went with the 14.5-inch barrel on my first M4 and a permanently attached flash hider to keep it all over 16-inches. I think the 14.5-inch barrel looks more cooler and the flash hider I have serves a purpose other than being 1.5-inhes long. That’s just me though; I’m into killing tin cans in the mud going after the elusive bottle of tannerite.

The plain ole fashion K.I.S.S. A2 rifle is also a must have for me. The bullets get to the tin can soo much faster with that 20-inch barrel, it’s unbelievable.

Have fun and be safe out there.

Nobody can have less than 16-inches on a rifle unless it’s an NFA weapon.
