20 inch with a collasable stock

I am thinking of putting my A2 upper on a M4 lower what do you think a collaspable 20 incher or has this been done.

Saw it in Afghanistan. 20 in. w/collapsible, and Elcan. It can be done.

Back when I was a grenadier I ran a collapsable stock on my M16A4 w/ M203. I like the config.

It's getting to be a very common mod....sort of the best of both worlds type of thing. Some folks ballyhoo it but what is important is that it works for a lot of folks.

Only have a M9 at Arifjail. I was thinking of doing this to my A2 because I still need a lower.

I will go by the guy and talk to him though always want to know more about what I can do to my stuff when I have it.

I like my M9 but its not that effective when I go up north or out southeast from kuwait.

If you go to the scrap yard here there are barrels AR upper recieves gas rings and the like still in the wrapper that people send down from up north its a shame I've rescued many since I have been here but still some get lost to the scrap heep do to people not giving a dam. I hate going up to those guys and say theres a war going on why is this stuff just laying out. They always give me the look of why do I care what happens.

I'm unfortunately issued a C7A2. The only thing that's good about it is the fact that I can adjust the butt if I'm wearing body armour. I don't see the point of a 20" barrel on a collapsible stock, I'd much rather have a midlength 16", that is the best of both worlds in my opinion. If you want to do it then I would go ahead, I'm not sure what buffer we use in ours but I do remember that they are marked with something. Who knows, you might like it, if you don't it's easy enough to switch it back.

The answer really depends on why you want to do it? Collapsible stocks are Uber-Evil and all that so that makes them tacti-cool thing to have around here but lets not forget that, with a few exceptions, they are generally not all that comfortable to shoot. Now if you need one for a legitimate reason, (i.e. you wear BA, chest rig, thick heavy clothing or have a really short LOP or you need to move around with it in very tight spaces) then obviously go for it. So basically...

If you want to do it because
A. You think they look cool and plan to spend more time looking at it them shooting it.
B. You have a functional reason why you need or could benefit from one.

Then go for it but if neither A nor B applies to you and you just want to enjoy shooting you 20" AR, then get a fixed A1 length stock and you will be happy.

That's my $.02 on it.

I put a RRA adjustable on my Colt 6700 because the variable LOP makes it easier for my girls (10 and 11 yrs) to shoot.

My ears must be burning

I really like it. I run the standard carbine buffer in it and it hasn't failed me yet.

The Gov't profile barrel makes it swing about like a 16" HBAR. It feels awefully light.

Seen more than afew like that over here. Would do it to my A2 if the unit was not so uptight. Life would be better with the IBA that way.

I have a 6-pos stock on my 24" varminter. Sometimes I shoot from weird positions or have other people shooting my guns so since I have the option, I want it to be as adaptable as possible.
