Greetings all!
I have an old(er) SGW (aka Olympic Arms) 20" A1 bull barrel in 1:12 twist. I think that this twist was optimized for 55gr bullets, but what have others shot in a 1:12 barrel?

Lighter than 55 gr. should not be a problem. If you go with a heavier (longer) bullet, your bullets will not stabilize, and accuracy will be non-existant. I tried some 62 gr. rounds out of my 1/12 twist, and at 50yds. I had a pattern, not a group. The bullets did not stabilize, and when I managed to hit the target, the bullets were hitting sideways (keyholing).

Many bolt guns are made with a 1-12" twist.
I have had the best luck with the lighter bullets. The 40Gr. Nosler Ballistic tips shoot extremely well in my Rem 700 with a 1-12 twist.
Stay with the 40 to 55Gr bullet weights and you shoud have some good results. As far as powders go, i like either H335 or WIN 748. Both are ball powders and meter very well from a powder measure.

Good luck and post your results
