I may have a chance to pick up a 308 barrel directly from a manufacturer.....16" Fluted HBar style barrel with threaded muzzle for $400 (maybe a little less). It did not quite pass QC. nothing wrong with chamber or anything, functions fine, just this batch of barrels is only getting 1.5" MOA versus sub MOA they usually get. The manufacturer does not want to put them out on their rifles/uppers because of this.....I am begging them hard to try and get one......I think 1.5 moa is not bad for what I would probably make as a Iron Sighted plinker, and since I know to only expect limited accuracy, I will not be disappointed.

Give me your opinion.....Would 1.5 MOA be acceptable to you? oh, and they were using factory ammo, so hand loads might actually be a little better, but they are not making any guarantees or anything and it would be sold to me as a 2nd. I already have a DPMS upper receiver, F.F. Tube, Gas Block, Break, DPMS 308 bolt and 308 lower parts, hust need the lower and a 308 carrier and would be done...........

IIRC Weatherby rifles are guaranteed 1.5 MOA out of the box. I wouldn't sneeze at such accuracy.

For $400, the barrel better be sub-MOA, IMO.

That's the Vanguard line, and you can get the entire rifle for $400 or less.

1.5 MOA would be accepatble for a blaster barrel. That said, $400 is a little spendy for a "blaster" barrel. There's a new chrome lined AR10 16" on EE for ~$250. That is a good blaster barrel at a good price.

I'd be shocked if my 16" FAL got 1.5 MOA, but I can always hit what I'm aiming at with it.

The only rifle worth shooting is one that is accurate. Let them keep their tomato stakes.

Being an FAL and AK shooter, 1.5 MOA sounds fantastic to me.  I'd call that quite acceptable for a shooter/plinker.  However, $400 seems a little steep.  

When they offer you that barrel for $200 then go ahead. at $400 no way.

New DPMS barrels are $300.  That barrel is not worth more than $100.

You could go a long way towards a stainless steel handlapped match grade barrel that shoots 1/2 moa.

1.5 moa is ok for a qcb blaster or plinking gun. For a bolt action rifle like those weatherby's, or anything .308 level in performance I would require 1/2MOA.

$400 is too much for a second grade barrel.

Unless its a Kreiger or something so phenomenally hi end you are wasting your money with a 400$ second grade barrel.
