What barrel profile on the 14.5 and 16?  I know there was a thread somewhere about midlength 16" 1/7 chrome lined by sabre.

Not to get off-subject, bu will they have a 20" available?

Thinks,

Gemtech does not warranty cans for use on an LMT 10.5" upper

I've heard this alot, but I've been unable to get Gemtech to directly confirm.  Can anyone provide this direct from Gemtech?  It'd be nice if they put it on their website or something.

Carbine length gas system barrels will be M4 profile, light under handguards.
Mid-length gas system are gov. profile.

Sorry I wasn't clear in what I meant. I assume the 14.5 is a carbine gas system, but was really wanting to know if the 16 is a midlength gas system.

M4 feed ramps? Chamber 5.56 I assume? What type of cost are we talking about?  I may be interested in a 16" with a midlength gas system

Interesting. twl said they absolutely, positively will not use them for the midlength barrels being discussed in the EE. Maybe YOU can get a midlength barrel done with them?

Any chance of an "F" front sight base to go along with the flattop? please! No all of us are hung up on the new fangled optics.

I'd rather see a proper FSB than M4 ramps but both would be nice if done properly

Where in Texas are you located?

I might be interested in a 16" and/or a 20".

Will there be HBAR's available?

What do I want? Hmmm, let's see...

1. 16" barrel
2. Mid-length gas system.
3. 4150 steel, Sabre says they use a better steel so that's good.
4. 1/7" twist
5. 5.56 chamber
6. Chrome lined chamber and bore.
7. M4 barrel extension not machined extended feed ramps!  I hope you're able to convince them to do this.
8. Barrel MP tested and proofed.
9. Medium weight profile.
10. Keep the price around $300, lower is always better.
11. The "F" marked FSB shouldn't matter on mid-length but it probably wouldn't hurt.
12. Last but not least these barrels need to be available YESTERDAY!

This is what I've been looking for the last 6 months!  What would this barrel sell for (shipped)?

So 11.5" barrels will be lightweight under the HG, not medium like the LMT?  I could go with either to be honest.

+1 on "F" FSB, and true M4 feedramps.  Especially if the price is more reasonable than a Colt Commando upper.

I just got off the phone with Kel at Gemtech. I had a bad choice of words which I edited above.

Thanks for taking the time to clarify this issue.  I have a Form 1 pending for an SBR, so sooner or later I'll be trying to decide what SBR upper I want. ;)

I would be seriously tempted by one of these.

7 and 8 are optional for me.  9 is kind of nice though.

Another vote for a middy 1/7 with all the goodies.

I'd be interested in a 11.5" too, but I'd be in the market for a mid first.

He already said it was on option.

I want to know what the barrel steel is.

As for Gemtech cans not being warrantied with LMT 10.5" uppers I have seen Phil Dater say he would warranty them on this very site.

According to Grant Morgan Sabre will be doing statistical testing and only a few from each batch will be tested.

Good to hear, certainly better than none.  I wonder what percentage of the barrels Sabre actually tests.  That's all most do because it is expensive.  I didn't expect them all to be MP'd at that price.

I have heard the Sabre barrels come with round front end caps for the handguards.

So, for those of us going with plastic grips, where can we get midlength handguards that match the Sabre hardware?

IIRC, Cav Arms uppers are made by Sabre and they Cav Arms makes the mid-length plastic handguards for them.

You are correct. Cav Arms supplies Sabre with furniture and Sabre supplies Cav Arms with barrels and uppers.
So, the Cav Arms mid-length handguards will fit the Sabre barrels and uppers we are selling. In fact, you can even get the handguards from us for $35 with your barrel.

Is my barrel ready yet?
