Been out of the game for a while. Who makes a very good 16 inch tube for a varmit/ precision build?
Last time I built an AR was almost 7 years back and that was a whole different game back them.

I will mostly be shooting handlaods but would like one with a Wylde or Nato chamber.

thanks

Can't go wrong with Bravo Company

I've got one of their 16" barrels and it shoots great.

Rainier, Bravo, White Oak Armament (WOA), Noveske, AR15Performance. All good companies. Whats your budget

White Oak. ADCO stocks them as well.

Well considering I want a GOOD barrel that will give me a solid 1.5 moa with good match factory and I hope slightly better with handloads Im thinking 400-500? Sound fair?   I got a contoured hart SS for another project for $475 so using that as a barometer.

This wont be a budget build aside from the DPMS lower I already have assembled.  But Im not going apeshit and spending over the above price point.

thanks for the input

Check out the Rainier match barrels. They use Shilen Blanks. Wylde chamber, 1-8 twist

Get a noveske! I love mine and it is a tack driver!

+1...

I have a BCM SS410 16" that will shoot sub-moa 10 shot groups with FGMM 77gr SMKs.....bout as accurate as I'll ever need.

The two Nordic Components barrels - one by Wilson, and one by Lilja.  16" midlength gas, 1:8 twist, Wylde chambering, and stainless.  The Wilson barrel is about $185, and the Lilja barrel is about $289.  If you guys are overlooking those two barrels, then it's on you...

I was looking at the Nordic-Wilson versus the Rainier Select. How do you like yours?

I have been looking at barrels for my hunting/target rig for the past month.
I Looked at Wilson, WOA, JP, Olympic, DPMS, RRA, Bravo Co, all over.
I went with White Oak Armament for mine. Lots of great things have been said about them, the price wasnt out or the park, and from talking to them they are great to deal with.
I bought their SDMV 20" barrel for mine. You should look at their SPR match barrel in 18", or they do have a 16" match grade in 16.

Just ordered the Lilja 16" barrel from Nordic. With coupon code AR15-NORDIC-2010 found here:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=390&t=196905

You can get it for $260.10 delivered....That's a super deal for Lilja accuracy.

I'll report on the accuracy using BH factory ammo after it comes in.

Absolutely love the barrel - I went with the Wilson-Nordic and not the Lilja-Nordic.  It's been a great barrel so far, and I built it into this one:

After a box of Tubb Final Finish ammo, this is what it did with some 68, 69, and 75gr ammo:

Keep in mind that the Liljas are not lapped like the barrels straight from them. No doubt that they are good barrels but that fact alone made me decide on a rainier select at $100 less.

I recently put together a rifle with the Nordic-Lilja barrel. Crap!! I didn't see the discount!!! Anyways...I have only gotten a chance to sight in at 25 yds. with bulk ammo. 10 shot group at 25 yards was dime sized. I am pleased so far. I usually handload for precision work but haven't been able to get to any yet. I did buy a box of BH 77gr. moly match but it has been a little on the chilly side to go out shooting.

I am wanting to get another of these barrels but am wondering if the Nordic-Wilson would do just as well for the purpose I have in mind for the next build......more of a throw in the truck gun.

by calling Nordic and asking. It is made by Lilja to Nordic specs. There is a reason that lillja AR barrels go for $450 when ordering from them.

Haven't tried them, but looking at their website I don't see any mention of chrome lining.  Might be worth investigating to see if they have it.

This one from Sabre Defence seems to be popular as of late:

■16″ 410SS
■Mid Length Gas System
■1:8 Twist
■M4 Feed Ramps
■.750 Gas Block Seat
■Fluted
■Threaded 1⁄2 X 28 TPI

I've got one just like it but 18 in.  Can't give a range report yet but from what I've read from it's owners it's a tack driver and can easily do sub MOA.
