14.5" velocity question

will a 14.5" barrel give a 55grn factory varmint load enough velocity for rapid and reliable fragmentation at 10-150 yards?

55 grain varmint load will not have adequate penetration at any range at which it fragments.

I'm not looking for penetration because I will be shooting varmints

Then it will fragent out to 100 yards yes, but not as fast or as violently as a longer barrel. It still will cure your pest problems though. [:)]

For varmints use Hornaday TAP or Nosler BT's

the Noslers should explosively fragment out to 200-250yds.

And they'll kill dogs past 600Meters if you can hit em that far out.

And the varmints should explosively fragment if hit with a full auto burst.[:D]
