I can't decide what I want to do with some of my tax return. I was looking at getting a 14.5 PA upper. Is it senseless to buy a 14.5 PA m4 upper when I already have a 16.1 m4 upper on my AR? It was either that or a Gen 4 Glock 22. I'd be replacing a gen 3 G17.

Thanks,

that 1.5in does make a difference but why not get something to fill a different role? Like maybe an 18in or 20in precision build? A 16in SS middy Recce build, SBR, SPR Mk18, M12, M16A4, maybe a 6.8SPC II upper?

I like the m4gery carbine uppers. I was thinking SBR as a possibility. Something like a MK18Mod0. I have the paperwork mostly filled out. I just have to get the passport photos, finger print cards, and LEO signature. The only problem is that I'm living in essentially two states right now, and my gun would have to stay in Wyoming.

This is the route I've taken. All of my carbines are 14.5+perm except my 16" Recce. I built a 16" carbine for my girlfriend only because it fit the budget and having a non-perm'd muzzle device makes it easier to change things when she changes her mind.

I would say go for an 18" or 20" SPR type rifle. Maybe rebarrel your 16" into a 14.5" permed? I like the way the 14.5s look, too much barrel sticking out on a 16" lest its a middy.

Yeah, and with women you know damn well that's gonna happen!

OP, if you know this is the setup you what, 14.5" perm is a good choice, although i would look toward that SBR you mentioned. 16" carbines are good if you're not sure what setup you're gonna run, because you can change anything with minimal work, but once you know what you like, I greatly prefer 14.5" much like Jerz.

You should look into doing a SBR..

I have a Gen 3 Glock 22 that I would trade for your G17... if you are interested..

I wouldnt do a 14.5 and a 16.... I would go either SHORT or longer like mentioned 18"

I have three AR's (14.5 PA, an 18" and a 20"). Each one fits a different role. I agree go SBR or an 18" or 20" upper, a 16 and 14.5 would be redundant.
