i have a bushmaster A3 upper and 16 heavy barrel, the handguards  have a plastic heatshield underneat instead of metal. the holes in the heatshield are on both sides of the holes in the handguard so its like theres no real source of ventilation, and those handguards get pretty hot. it came like this brand new. anybody ever experience this before? or know why they do this?

Normal. The heatshields are aluminum anodized(?) black. Barrel heat will cause air flow via convection... that's why they feel hot.
