Came across an intersting Colt lower - Marked COLT AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine, with an even more interesting SN - BD0005XX.  Anyone know anything about these, or the serialization?

I'll snap a digital of it - I believe it dates from mid to late '94 .  Has small (.250")  pivot / take down pin dia's and large pins for the trigger / hammer.

I sorta feel dumb - looked at the Colt site and sure 'nuff - there it was Model #6720.  Mine is easily 10 yrs old though - and it does NOT have the LE Restricted stuff on it.  Again the SN is what really had me a bit interested.
On a side note - got back from Oper Iraqi Freedom 'bout 6 weeks ago and am "discovering"
1. All my toys agin
2. AR15.com

That is how all the LEO carbeans are marked.  It's a standard model.

Interesting that it is a push pin at the front take down pin.

Colt must have gone to the screw and then back to the push.

Troy,
What was the SN range for the preban / and or the cutoff from pre to post?
Did they change the Prefix on the SN's? Or are all A3 Tactical's start with BD (never seen another with the same prefix)
Any idea what this puppie is worth?

As Troy mentioned BD000134 was the last pre-ban, so BD000135 and up are post.  Current production 6721 rifles have a three letter prefix.  This happened sometime before 1997.  Think the new prefix is BDC?  A large batch of the early post ban's were sold as lower assemblies by CDNN back in 1996.  I had one of those, and I think the serial number was real close to yours.  They came with the screw pin arrangement, no doubt yours has been changed out for a M16A2 type front push pin, not a difficult job in that all the early ones I saw had the holes drilled for detent and spring.  Hard to judge worth without knowing if it is complete and orignial, or a parts kit gun built from a CDNN supplied receiver.  Current production NIB 6721 rifles go for just under $900 wholesale.  I would be interested in purchasing just the lower, if you are interested in parting out.

Thanks on the welcome home.  Was gone over 14 months.  As I said before, I am enjoying the reunion with all my toys in the safe(s) and getting acquainted with this site.
Anyone interested in pic's from there?  Not sure where the "proper" place is to post them.  Also thanks to all for the info on the Colt - probably gonna hang on to this  one for a while.
