They're selling for $50 each, wondering what the catch might be, or whether I should order a couple just 'cause they're cheap?  Quality issues?  It's almost too good to be true... makes me suspicious...

Update 12/30/2009: I ordered these on a Friday, they showed up at my FFL on the following Monday (fast shipping!).  I finally recieved the LPK's I ordered from Brownells today and assembled one of them.

On one of the lowers, the trigger would not slide down into the lower reciever. I had to take a dremel tool to it and remove some material from the side of the trigger (where the pin goes through) in order to get it in there properly.  For the record, the triggers from BOTH of the DPMS LPKs fits nicely in the other lower.  I had absolutely no other problems, magazines fit well and drop free, etc.  As I noted, I used DPMS LPK's.

It's clear that these two lowers (consecutive serial #'s) are slightly different in size inside the FCG cavity.  Whether the lowers are in spec (within +/- tolerances) and the DPMS triggers are a bit too wide or whether the one lower is simply out of spec, I don't know.  You can feel inside the cavity where the milling marks are, I'm guessing the lower I had trouble with wasn't milled out quite enough.  In the end, for me, a few minutes with a dremel is not too big a deal.

I paid $50 for each lower, ~$15 shipping, and $30 in transfer fees.  Which comes out to $72.50 each inclusive.  Cheapest stripped lowers I've ever bought, and I'll say that quality is adequate.

Both have nice finishes (more of a flat black than a shiny black) and no scratches (until I got to them!!!)

I used JP reduced power trigger springs (I have them in all my rifles) and this lower now has what I believe the best trigger of any of them.  There is very little pre-travel, smooth, light, crisp break.

Overall I am pleased and would purchase from SI-Defense again without reservation. (and the DPMS LPK's seem pretty decent as well).

I wonder how many they sell with a custom logo.

From what I've read they are a quality product. They had a nice write up in Shotgun News. They are relatively new to the commercial market and may just be trying to generate a market for their product by offering a great deal. I would take a chance.

Clue as to WHO made them:  look at the "LWR" in the order product code.  Quality?  Does not get ANY better than that!

Armalit also just put their lowers on sale.  Sale price ONLY available to your FFL.

The bottom is falling out.  The DSA upper should be $200 any day now.  Christmas presents must be bought.

I ordered 2 and they are due in next week will post pictures as soon as I get them.  I couldn't pass up a deal like this, even if no one knows what the quality is like.

BRD virus spawns another couple of ARs.

I bought a couple SI billet lowers on sale last summer through a forum goup buy (with non machined trigger guard).
I find them to be among the better quality lowers I have acquired (all others lower were forged).
I will send them back to purchase newmatched billet uppers - probably Gen II. I like the billet route!

I'm looking to make 6.8 SPC with one and a 22LR for the wife with the other one.  The wife didn't know what to get me for Xmas and then like magic the AR gods smiled on me when I found the post for $50 lowers.

I have been looking hard at their "matched set" for my first build.
If money weren't an object, who would you choose for your upper and lower???

Oh and by the way the price went way up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No kidding.

I ordered 2 of the lowers and got consecutive serial numbers as well and also ordered two of the stripped a3 flattop upper receivers, the one locks up real tight with both lowers and the other has a little bit of play, I don't have any pins to see if that fixes the problem but I imagine an accu-wedge will. Luckily I bought a DPMS LPK for the first build so hopefully it will go in without any issues.

Here's some pics of them...
