Since my .223/5.56mm is on zero @ 50 yards and again on zero at 200 or so yards, I zero the laser first at 50 and then double check at 200.
So far it is about 1/2" low @ 50 yards and on the money @ 200 yards.... |

I think that 50-75 yards would be a good distance to sight in at. Try seeing at what distances you can still make out the laser in different lighting. This may give you a better idea of what is optimal. |

I've got mine mounted on the top rail as the side mount was too obtuse, I did manage to shoot a ten round group five inches in diameter using just the laser at 225 yards at night so I am GTG in my mind.

Looks like an anchor. Nope, everything is two second quick attach or quick release for day or night use, besides it is not my hiking jump shooting rifle, it is my stand rifle. Just shot a nice coyote with it last night @ 165 yards using some NV gear.... |

If you mount the laser to the side rail, measure the offset from the bore and make the dot that amount offset as well and you won't have do deal with left and right converging angles.
Say its 2 inches to the left. Just put the dot 2 inches left of poi and know your round will hit 2 inches right of the dot. |

This is what I do as well except I don't offset the zero point by the full amount. Say if it was 2 inches as the post above said, I'd only offset it by say 1.5" if I zeroed at 50 yards. If I zeroed the same hypothetical setup at 100 yards I'd offset it by even less, probably just an inch or 3/4." |
