So is this better than a YHM flash hider or muzzle brake suppressor mount with a SSS brake shield? It's a lot cheaper and you don't have to have access to the collar to remove it.
Is the brake compatible with any QD suppressors? If not, why make the shroud QD? I'm all for innovation and new ideas, just not seeing the advantage. |

Hello,
How much clearance between the rail and the device do we need? To be more exact...can I run this on 10.3 barrel with 9.5 rail or an 11.5 barrel with a 10.75 rail? Thanks Green.

Are there any plans for a QD suppressor that can mount to the brake? If so, that would be the biggest advantage of the QD shroud, for use when the suppressor is off.

I've been posting about wanting something like this for years (and I'm not an operator).
MB for maximizing control and recoil reduction when at the range, but a shroud to project noise and blast forward for HD and shooting close to others at a carbine class). 4oz is a bit heavy for a brake, but it probably is more rugged to be a solid attachment place. I wish all brakes offered a QD shroud like this...some could focus, like this one on recoil reduction, some could turn it into a flash hider. |

No I have not. My job is not with weapons but there isn't a civilian scenario where this comes in handy. I don't have to clear a room everyday. It's a neat toy. When I build a rifle I have a purpose for what goes on it.

I bought a KX3, which is similar to this thing in concept, because I like my fillings to stay in place when shooting my SBR. When shooting CQ matches, there are walls and barrels, and there is usually a range officer with the timer right beside or behind you. A "civilian scenario" doesn't usually require an AR-15 either, yet here we are. You can be a fudd if you want to, you sound a bit like one. The other guys can buy whatever expensive farkles they want to hang on their boutique rifles. You won't get along well with people on a site like this going around saying "You don't need that" |

The outer "shell" is designed to reduce the muzzle blast esp. to the sides of the weapon without disabling the muzzle brake effect. Google "SBR fireball" you can see some huge fireballs where the blast consumes the front of handguard. Get your hand too close to the muzzle you might take some damage. |

It is awesome with and without the reduction device on. Off to blow up your shooting neighbors and on when I'm sweeping tight quarters. Just a heads up, it is HEAVIER with the shroud on, a lot heavier. Balances nicely with a 10.3 tho This is my home defense setup in progress and the CRD def has civilian application for that purpose |

With it on, there is a noticable addition of a rearward impulse, but a huge decrease in sound. It is less concussive than my 16 in rifle with a griffin flash comp II. |

Ugh. I just spent $400 in muzzle brakes getting all my barrels to fit the same SAS can.
I would be all over these outer shrouds for 3gun if they worked and they could fit onto a supressor mount. Though, even if they did I think a bunch of other companies cans would get made ahead of mine. Also, I just realized that the dimensions would probably bump me into Open Division, in which case I would just use my supressor because I'm coming in dead last anyway. |
