That's a neat idea.  Is there any play or it is pretty solid? Will it come with the roll pin or do you have to re-use the one for the sling loop?

Kind of pricey but looks very well made.
Link Posted: 8/7/2007 2:47:57 PM EST
I was looking for something just like this, but I would only go as high as $35-$40.

I have a similar setup with a bayo pic mount from another company, Your version is longer and attaches differently (mine has set-screws). I paid slightly less for mine, but am in for a couple when they become available. It's clean and simple; utilizing a rarely used attachment point. I don't plan to have to do a frontal assault  with bayonets fixed.

Good product!

Thanks!

The part is pretty solid - no play front to back - with a VFG mounted on it (think 7" upper - pics to follow) there is no more side to side than what you feel on standard M4 guards with a rail mount.

We are including a drill bit to remove the rivet in the existing sling loop and either a roll pin OR an 8-32 hex cap screw with a lock nut.  (which would you prefer?) to attach the rail.

I like hte hex cap screw idea, but either one would be fine.  Thanks for the pics

Ok, ok...

It's growing on me.

Very nice.  I already have a railed handguard on mine, but I applaud your ingenuity in designing it and your initiative for bringing it to market.  Again, very nice.

QUESTION:

I've got a Harris Bipod mounted to a rail on the underside of my forarm with the legs of the bipod extended forward.  Would this setup allow me to mount a light such as the surefire without obstructing the legs of the bipod from closing?
Link Posted: 8/11/2007 12:05:04 PM EST
This is wonderful. I was looking for a bayo-lug rail for my SBR, however, with this, I'd have so much more!

I like it!  I might get one for a light mount on my 11.5", but I think it is too long to clear the suppressor on my 10.5" upper.

Thanks for the pics.  I will definitely pick one up when they become available.
Here is a pic of what I will try to use it on:

I also have to pick up as set of your AR-15 armorer blocks as they seem very nice tooAfter exchanging IMs with CrossTac I just wanted to add how helpfull they have been to someone who has not even purchased anything from them yet.

Not sure what happened to the review on the CrossTac armorers block, but it's a great piece of gear. Whether you tinker or really build ARs it's a serious tool.

I'd also like to say their service is second to none. They go the extra mile to make sure you get you order and are happy with it.

This is how companies should operate.

Thanks, Vern

Will this mount work with a Standard Colt side sling mount? Looks like it will but I would like to read that you guys have actually tested and verified that it works? How soon before this is available for purchase?
Link Posted: 9/10/2007 4:50:02 PM EST
Now, this I like.

As soon as you guys get this to market, I'll buy one.  Any idea when this item will be available?  I've been putting of one of your action blocks so I can combine the order.

any idea how much you'll end up pricing them at?

Without having held it in my hand and seen it on my AR I have a hard time saying; but $49 seems like it may be reasonable. I want one with a side sling swivel.
Link Posted: 9/30/2007 1:40:13 PM EST
$49 seems reasonable. If ARMS can get $320 for a 7 inch rail system, 49 for this is a steal :D
Link Posted: 10/3/2007 12:38:48 PM EST
I have been wanting something like this for mounting a light.

I wanted to retain my standard handguards (so no railed handguard mounting), and I didn;t want to to a FSB mount as I have my sling attached IDF style.

This rail should do the trick just nicely.

Link Posted: 10/3/2007 4:22:59 PM EST
Just what the doctor ordered!

I'll take one.
Link Posted: 10/3/2007 9:50:53 PM EST
$49 isn't bad at all in my opinion. This looks like a good solution for guys like me who don't want to shell out cash for a rail system just to mount a light on a rifle.

I like it.  $49 seems a little on the high side at first, but it does look like a well thought out and solid piece...I'd probably go for one if I got to fondle one first at a store or on a friend's gun or something.  Heck of alot cheaper than buying a rail setup and makes more sense then spending $150-$300 on rails just to attach a light, and it has to be tougher than the cheapie rails that go on regular HG's..

Absolutely.  chapperjoe spotted it on the blue gun but we have run M4's without removing the side sling adapter as well.  In addition you can thread in a stud or loop sling mount on either side and reduce weight and clutter by taking off the side sling mount.

Well I didn't miss it on the Blue gun, that's why I said it looks like it would fit but fitting something on a plastic mock up isn't the same as using it on the real thing. I'm glad to read it will work with the real thing.

Thanks

Order placed. Now I have to order another sling.
Link Posted: 10/31/2007 3:47:38 AM EST

I just ordered mine this morning.  I got a Sure Fire X300 last Saturday and was in a real quandry as to how to mount it.  I tried a MI 1" bolt on rail piece on my standard plastic CAR fore end, but did not like it.  It crowds the hand and bites when the X300 is not mounted.  I commented to a friend that I wish there was a bayonet lug mount rail, but didn't think such a thing existed.  I found this thread the following Monday, and was really pleased.  This is exactly what I was looking for.

By the way, the X300 is absolutely awesome.  It easily illuminates stuff at 100 yards.  LED technology is really getting interesting.  How long before head lights are LED?

Well, I installed it. I had to remove the sling swivel from the FSB first which took some doing.

But here is my Midlength KISS rifle now with light.

This mount is pretty solid! The machining is beautiful. I had the "ring" installed on the left side. Used paracord to create a sling loop for my Vickers sling. I'm very happy this product came out. I was going to end up getting a mount on the side of my FSB for a light, but I like this better.

I just got my rail today, I put in on a fairly new Colt LE6920, the Colt side sling mount will not go back on, it hits the rail so one or the other would have to be ground for clearance.

I sent CrossTac pictures of the issues.

I looked for the picture of the dummy rifle in this post but it looks like it's gone?

Edit: It will fit but it takes some effort and filing will be necessary to avoid resistance.
