If you wanted to get a factory ball milled barrel that did not use the E3 bolt you had to remove your barrel pack it up and send it off to Marvin. The downtime could be weeks (I know, I had my SR15 mod 1 one cut and ball milled). While the work was amazing and worth the wait. The down time was a bummer.
Enter in BoltCarrier.com, they have convinced Marvin to do a run of factory stainless steel barrels that can be shipped right to your door in no time.

While I have sold all my AR15 rifles and gone strictly to the SR15 platform, I decided to have a standard bolt upper built and see what these barrels can do.

For those that don’t know, these are 416R Stainless Steel, mid-length, 5.56 chambered, medium profile ball milled barrels.

While I’m fully capable of building and upper, I decided to have BoltCarrier.com bulid it since I purchased 80% of the components from them and it just seemed simpler to have them slap it together.

The components I had them use in the build is as follows

•Nefarious Arms by Marvin Pitts 16" Stainless Steel Mid Length Barrel
•Forged Mil-Spec Upper Receiver
•KAC 14.5 URX 4 Rail
•Low Pro Set Screw Gas block
•Mid-Length Gas Tube
•KAC 5.56 MAMS Muzzle Device
•KAC 600m rear BUS – I provided
•KAC Micro Flip up front – I provided
•TR Enabling Nickel Teflon BCG – I provided

I also took advantage of BoltCarrier.com’s Cerakote services and had it dress up in MagPul FDE to match the lower I will be using.

To put it mildly I’m very pleased with the results!

I know most of you are saying “Well this looks great and all but how does it shoot?” Well for that you will just have to revisit this thread in the next coming days while I get out to the range.
Here are some pictures to tide you over.

Nice! I've been waiting for someone to do a review on one of these barrels.

Thats a great lookin upper DD! I dig it.

And also a hell of a build quality by Ayan. He never seems to disappoint EVER in ANY way! Add a SS Marvin bbl to the equation and its pure secks FTMFW!

Can't wait to see what these barrels are capable of DD. I was back and forth with Ayan prior to the release and it was REALLY hard to keep things quiet till he announced them for sale.

I'm personally waiting on a 14.5" to hold on to till I burn out the one on my current rifle. Keep us posted DD..

Looks great.  Was this route less expensive then just buying a KAC upper?  I've been thinking about building an upper with the URX4,  Trying to decide which route to go.

Ok guys....

I'm highly apprehensive about posting these and I'm sure a lot of peoples bulltshit meters are going to go off the charts.

I would feel much better if their is an accomplished shooter in the central Florida region that I could send the upper to so they can confirm these findings.

These groups were accomplished using handload 69gr SMK, Leadsled DFT with 50lbs of weight, HDMR optics on a KAC SASS mount.

Lower was a factory Knights Armament SR15 lower

I seemed to have misplaced the m193 target I had. It had 10 rounds on it, I did not get a measurement but all rounds fell into a 1.5 inch area.

Once again, I would like to find another shooter to give it to for a day and see what they come up with. Before I'm tarred and feathered!

Slightly less expensive, but it does not have the KAC e3 bolt or proprietary gas system.

I'm not sure another Floridian would be a good enough test.
