that is very interesting.
did you also coat the barrel - just wondering if the heat would melt the rubber. did you do this your self or did somebody else do it. I have seen it done on tools and such but never a Weapon |

I'm sure it would burn off if you laid 2-3 mags down it pretty fast, probably not the best idea for somebody with a class III and no reguard for there barrel. so far its holding up pretty good and its nice and grippy, the manifacture says it will stand up to temperature ranges of -30°F to 200°F. How fast would it take to get a AR to 200 degres?

Yes it will bounce, I applied it to the same AK i used in all those abuse videos, we will see how well it stands up.
I sprayed it, did not dip it. AND the flash hider is a pinned 5.5 on a 11.5 barrel. Its made to look like a xm177 flash hider. |

Rubber coating the lower portion of a magazine (not the top part that is inside the magwell) seems like it's got possibilities. As well as the pistol grip and stock also. I figure the upper and barrel would melt the coating pretty quick, but maybe the lower might hold up ok.

Why the cut pistol grip?

If it works for you that's all that matters. I have used both the dip can and also the spray to mark my tools. On the screwdriver, hammer and pliers the rubber peeled off pretty quick with use. Some of the wrenches has lasted ok, but that's because they don't get used much. Be interesting to see how it lasts.
But of course the big question on ARFCOM is " IS IT MIL SPEC? " |

the coating on the barrel and lower part of the gas block/sight tower won't last long if you go through 30rd mags at any good rate of speed. it takes my barrel exactly two mags being run through in 5 minutes or less to melt a stoney point rest bag. . . ask me how i know.
3 mags back to back will get one steaming. |

That thing is going to look like Two-Face after a couple of mags. You should not have coated the barrel.

i've melted plastic tool trays after only a couple mags at a leisurely pace. this wont be pretty. |

put 3 mags through it, pretty fast. It got slightly softer until it cooled but there was no smoking and nothing burst in to flames.
I like my cut grip, its unique. I tried a battleax on it like I have on my m4 now but but it did not look "right" I like the shorter style grips. |

I say it's yours to do with as you like. I refinshed my crappy/ un-even A2 stock with Plasti-dip spray after I went all body man on it.

You can have things done fast, good or cheap. Pick two!
|

I remember a guy posted some pics of an AR with wooden furniture on it.
This is like that, but times 5. I think it's very cool out of the box thinking. That said, I operate within the box I suppose. |

umm....no thank you.

You should shoot a few mags through it and take photos afterwards.

It's not like its a "searious" rifle. I have nothing in it.
I have some more classic AR's like a m4 with a ta01nsn and a colt 6933 that will have a 512 eotech on it after my tax stamp comes in (2 days ago its been 2 months) |
|
|
|
|
The m4 looks alot different now, its got a battleax grip and its alot more beat up lol

lol, its a cheap play toy just like that AK I trashed a few weeks back.
Big deal what it looks like,I like the way it is now and if I want to change it later theres nothing that a can of paint stripper and a power washer cant fix in 5 minutes flat. Anyone else who wants to make a smart ass comment about it can set on a dick and spin. |

I wonder how that coating will holdup to solvents. The Tool dip stuff I have used on pliers and such just seems to melt ofter getting oily.

Hail Don Alejo Garza Tamez!

I'm not sure about it, but its definitely something different.
I think it would be sweet on the grips and some other little pieces. But i would be a little weary of the barrel just for the reason it may melt off. But hey, you can always strip it and touch it back up. |
