Thanks for the comments guys.  I wanted to do a pinestraw / 87GN type paint job, but had to add something goofy yet subtle to the mix so it wouldn't look too badass.    Especially since I'm not taking this thing to war, or even hunting with it ... the camo is just fun for a non-tactical dude who makes occasional trips to the range... the rest of the time it's my bedside HD AR.

Stencil.  That's about the only embarrassing thing about it.. the time a grown-man took to sit at his kitchen table and cut out a stencil of an annoying (possibly gay) kid's cartoon character.

You are correct, sir.  The Krylon camo worked well.  I also laid down a base of textured spray paint (feels sandy) to eliminate any and all gloss and give slightly more grippy texture.
