Does anyone have a link to the old thread showing some guys rifle after 1,000s of rounds of Wolf ammo were fired in it? It was pretty caked up, but still shooting good. I did a search, but could not find it.

I actually think it was something like 16,000 rounds, but I am not sure.

Yes. I mentioned it in a thread over there and came here to find the pics since I saw them here.

MOTHER OF GOD!

I'd like to hear about rifle specs.
Link Posted: 6/3/2010 12:31:01 PM EDT
Awesome, soak it up and keep it running!
Link Posted: 6/3/2010 12:34:43 PM EDT
I guess that puts to rest that old myth about how the AR15 needs to be kept spotlessly clean in order to function.
Link Posted: 6/3/2010 12:45:52 PM EDT
do you think maybe any ammo might do that if the gun is not cleaned?

WTF!!! Mant that thing is fucking bad. Hope they have cleaning that shit out and off.
Link Posted: 6/3/2010 1:20:10 PM EDT
All it needs is a little Gun Scrubber and CLP. Run it again!!!

Not bad.  If you get 16K rounds out of it without cleaning you already exceeded the life cycle of some of the parts that need to be cleaned anyway.  Throw those parts away and start on your next 16K rounds.

I bet this makes the people who shoot one mag and detail strip thier guns cringe.

Did those pics come from one of the guys at addco? I think it was a ss barrel with a can. He may have been torture testing the barrel.

No. These are the pics from the adco thread.

5shot groups at 12k rounds

Those are my pics.  I took those around the 15K mark.  Broke a bolt lug around 16K, second lug broke after another mag or two, then I terminated my experiment.  Interestingly enough, the bolt release broke in that 15-16 range as well.

ETA: I don't think I started a thread on it, just interjected into someone elses thread.

Gun specs please ?????
Homegrown ? Factory ?

I'm dying to know

Link Posted: 6/3/2010 3:43:01 PM EDT
Also, I uploaded those pics in Aug 2005, so thats a timeframe for the original thread.  Other 2 pics not posted are not so good, 1 has bad angle, other is blurry.  Another "action" pic of said rifle gets me too much grief to post, but you may have seen it already.  Guy in poncho in the rain tossing rifle down.

ETA: Going to the wayback machine here, but barrel was Bushy,  BCG was M1S, think upper rec. was as well.  Lower was a RRA, do not recall who's LPK.

Link Posted: 6/3/2010 3:43:26 PM EDT
So, how many rounds were you firing between malfunctions at the end?

Rifle still ran great with missing lug ( I didn't notice it was broken until I was adding lube), but after I noticed 2 were gone, I decided to be call it before something bad happened.

My 24" HBAR eats Wolf like it is candy. My 16" carbine runs well on Wolf but has the occasional stuck case/broken rim.

Now that's awesome! And so many are told to stray away from Model 1 BCG's and internals.

Was this during testing of the cheap RDS?  I went 3k plus rounds without cleaning using WWB and UMC, things got kind of nasty and towards the end I was running on partial gas rings..... but it looked nothing like that mess you had.

It wouldnt  have broke if it was a good BCG.

All parts break eventually. At 16k any bolt would have been past it's service life. Bolts can develop cracks in as little as 5k rounds.

Just becuae this Model 1 bolt made it that long doesn't mean the next 100 in the batch would have. It was more of a exception to the rule. That also doesn't mean that a Colt can't break at 3k rounds either. But I would choose a Colt simpy because they are consistently built to a standard, for example.

IIRC, we did teh SPOT test after I finished teh torture test of teh rifle, as that's when the buffer tube broke.

I'm calling BS.   That's not from Wolf Ammo.

That's from THESE !

Soon as this thread hits 10 pages I'm ordering another 1K rounds ..

I thought RustedAce did a thread with pics like that, too.
