Formerly the MK18 / CQBR / L119 / Variants Thread Part 2

Part 2 to this thread:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=271832&page=1

The CQB-R is a short barrel upper for the M4 weapon system.

Later the Upper on an M4A1 or rebuilt M16 lower is designated by the US Navy at the MK18Mod0

The CQB-R / MK18 Mod O is generally(but not always)

10/10.3/10.5 inch barrel
KAC RIS or RAS
KAC NT4 Suppressor Mount
LMT Rear Sight or KAC 300m Flip Up Rear Sight
LMT Sopmod stock
CQD Rear sling mount
CQD forward sling mount

Optics are often an Aimpoint M2 or ACOG.

The Block II CQBR replaces the Knights rail and the fixed front sight base with a Daniel Defense MK18RISII rail.
Knights flip up front sight is often used.  When rear sights are seen they are often either KAC or Matech.

Our British friends have the L119 carbine.
The L119 is similar to a MK18MOD0.
The rifle is made in Canada, with a 10 inch barrel.
Every pictures I have seen the the L119 has a Trijicon TA31 or a TA01NSN ACOG that has a piggyback Trijicon MRD.
Note:  There is the L119, and the L119A1.  I have seen both used to refer to the carbine, and I am not sure which is the proper nomenclature.

Yada yada yada, will edit inore info later.
Including some of the LMT 10.5 vs Colt 10.3 argument.

It looks like Redi Mag extension, it just bolts on.

Thanks..Being a lefty, I've never really considered a Redi-Mag so, didn't know what it took to mount one on. I thought it was some type of oversized bolt release add on.

It is a defacto "add-on" that you have to install if you put a Redi-Mag on a lower to make access to the bolt catch easier.

For the amount of time they had it, ADCO did an amazing job. With luck I'll shoot it on Saturday. Now I have to play with furniture and stuff.

Awesome!! I have seriously been thinkinng of ditching my TA44 ACOG for a T-1.  They just look 'right'. Nice!!

Holy crap, man! Did you just quote my post from page 81??

The other XTMs are OD Green. All of them are stippled also, so that's probably why they look a little different in the pics.

Ok quick question guys.

For a MK18 Mod 1  If I want to run a flashlight since I dont have the need or the cash to run one of those fancy laser systems... What is the correct light that they use?  Is it an M600c?  M952V?  etc?

All mentioned should work. But in the Block II, you predominantly see (in pics) M3X long gun in tan, the WMX200, and M600C/M620C.

I have yet to see one with a M952V, but I wouldn't be surprised if some are using it. Obviously the M952/962 were used on the Mod0.

Excellent,  thanks!

So if it was you, and you picked up an M952V,  would there be any reason to try to swap it for a 620C or would you be just as happy with the 952?

My only beef with the M952V is the size of the M93 mount. It's a great light and I love the tail cap. Also, its size really shows if you ever decide to run your light offset. Further, you sacrifice some output with the dual head.

I have settled on the M600C-TN for my Block II CQBR because of its size and output. I also really like the M3X/M6X with LED head for indoors: great flood and very bright (I was an early hater of the incan heads for these). It's small, compact, and it conforms with what you see regularly in pics (not a great selection criterion, but there you have it).

Lights can be all over the place, so you should get whatever you want. A SF X300-U would even be cool , à la:

ETA: here is a block ii CQBR with what looks like a M951/2 with SW02 tail cap:

- I combed Heaven and Earth for this thing and FINALLY found one (that wasn't a FC2 reticle - this one is Mil-Dot) and got it for a STEAL!

I highly recommend, if you can find one.  I'd like to find another one and was considering just buying a x32 model - but I am seriously considering a Leupy Mark 6 1-6 now...

There were a couple of NF 2.5-10x24 scopes for sale recently.  Much higher prices then I paid for mine, but I guess people are willing to pay it.

I bought mine new (Mil/Mil/ZS/NV illumn) for $1360 shipped.  Hell, when I had a Specter DR I paid $1100 for it, and sold it for $1100.  I don't get people paying crazy prices for stuff.

Yep, I paid $1050 shipped for mine just a couple of weeks ago and couldnt believe it - brand new and never mounted.  I almost gave $1500 for one on here, but the guy decided to keep it (Thank God!).

Trying a new stock and grip.
Vltor IMOD and Magpul MOE-K grip

I freaking love the feel of both of these. They both came FDE and I hated the look so I got out the RIT dye. I like how the mag and grip turned out, kind of a grey/charcoal, but the stock just wouldn't take the dye. I ended up just going pretty much black with it. It still wouldn't take in some spots on the stock, and the tube caps wouldn't take at all so I ended up coloring them black with a sharpie, probably won't last.

Your suppressor looks like it barely has enough room to attach.
Nice gun!

So I noticed a lot of you bro's are using the SF 212A flash hider instead of the muzzle brake.  I thought the sentiment was to use the brake on the 10.5 when running a suppressor.
