I'm thinking about buying an ak, and saw these were fairly cheap. should i buy one or .....wait, I live in Ca. Darnit. You guys are so lucky with your AK's and AR15's and your hicaps...

Hey, I live in NY our laws suck too.  Not as bad as CA though.  Hey are you even allowed Pre-Bans there?

nope. if a rifle has a pistol grip and a detachable magazine it's illegal. also, the laws point out specifically that the ak/ar reciever makes it illegal
