so..., i think i narrowed my purchase down to a modified saiga 7.62x39 and i have a question.

the stock i like is this
http://www.themakogroup.com/product_p/uas-akp.htm

since i wanna add an optic above the receiver, would a side mounted rail interfere with the side folder?

im assuming yes, so next question, do they make anything like this fore end for a saiga?
http://www.themakogroup.com/product_p/vfr-ak.htm

is there any other options?

any help would be much appreciated. thank you in advance.

Check out the TWS rail.  Fruity tablecloth not included.  That comes with letting a female move in.

There a variety of optic solutions for the AK, to name a few:

Midwest Industries rail (rail mount that fits over your existing gas tube)

Ultimak rail (replaces your gas tube and has a rail built on top)

Side rail mount systems like BP02, KV04 or the RS side rail for 30mm optics like Aimpoints or PK23. These type of mounts let you use many kinds of Western optics.

A wide variety of Russian designed optics like POSP 4x24, Rakurs red dot, PK-A, PK-AS, Kobra etc.

New mounts that replace the rear sight leaf but allow you to mount micro red dot type optics like Aimpoints

The TWS top cover as mentioned above

Most combloc designed folding stocks will not fold when an optic is mounted because they close on the left where the side rail is. Side rail optics are designed to return to zero if removed and remounted (as in transporting the rifle folded, for example) and if you're using the optic you probably want the stock unfolded I'd imagine. Notable exceptions are the Polish/East German/Romanian wire folders which are also designed to fold to the right. The stock you linked to can be set up to fold on the right, many aftermarket stocks like Ace can do the same.

I'd recommend to not drop $600 worth of rails and fancy stocks until you get used to what you have. There is no perfect solution for an AK and some trial and error to determine what suits you personally is probably inevitable, maybe a better idea to start small and get familiar with it first.

The type of optic will determine your options to a certain extent.
