ok, maybe i've been working too hard here, lately.

i'm driving past the neighbor's house last night on my way home from work...getting ready to haul more appliances out to bulletfest.

my neighbor flags me down and i pull up his drive to the house.

WTF?!?! there sits the garden tractor i just hauled out to bulletfest last sunday! on a freshly cut lawn!!!!!!

the guy that gave it to me said the motor was blown up and that it died last summer.

WRONG!!!

ALL IT TOOK WAS SOME GAS AND A JUMP START!

now, my neighbor is pulling the motor out to stick in one of his dead tractors!

damn! if i had known the thing still worked, i would have kept it for myself! heheh!

in the lawn/garden tractors, deere used to use clinton (yes, that pos! motor), briggs and kohler. i have several kohler and clinton powered deeres.

now, they use some kawasaki motors. i own several of these and i can vouch for their smooth running and major power/torque attributes.

in the larger tractors, everythiong under 100 hp is imported, although some of the larger ones still use made in the usa engines and driveline componentry.

once you pass the $100,000 range, it is still cost effective to build a tractor in america...although even then, the percentage of imported parts (again, including motors) is quite high.

the difference between a belarus (russian) tractor and one from deer is nowhere near as great as one might think.
