I am building a Romanian sidefolder using a sidefolding stock that I bought from SKSman. Nice stock. Looks unused. I have a couple of questions.
Does a Romy sidefolder use a reinforcement plate?
Is it really neccessary?
What is the thread size for the screw? The ones sent with the folder are pan head screws and I want to use flat head screws. The local hardware store should have metric size screws.
What really is the purpose of the plate? It seems to me that with the close location of the rear rivets and the fact that it is screwed fast to the rear trunnion that reinforcement would not be needed. I do not have access to a spot welder and I don't want to buy one at the present time. I guess I could get a local sheetmetal shop to spot weld it however.
After reading some of the threads hear about them it seems that $20+ for a piece of metal is a bit salty.
So, do I need it or not?
