Do you still need to temper the metal after you harden it with Kasenit?

Kasenit may not be the way to go on a receiver. It depends what your receiver is made out of. Kasenit is used to give surface hardness to a metal that won't harden normally due to composition (like 1006 steel or wrought iron). It is a poor mans carburizing.. If the material will harden normally (like a 1040 or 4130 steel), you just heat it and quench it and them temper it.
