just got back from minifest. not a drop of rain untill....
noah and his ark arrived just as the last guns were being packed up and the canopy fabric tops were removed from the frames for the night (see! the big wind storm at bulletfest DID teach us something!
we beat the odds today as the weatherman said we would get rain, heavy rain actually, all afternoon.
thankfully, it held off untill trigger fingers had been satisfied!
i got to shoot a very rare firearm, the japanese type 97 tank mounted machinegun. normally, you see the type 99...and the owner did have a 99 in his bag of goodies, also. it had been converted from 7.7 to 7.62 x 51. those 20-round box mags went QUICKLY!
i was also fortunate to get to plink with a 20 gauge topper that was fed with that neat arty simulator bullet/sabot. it explodes into a neat red burst with plenty of smoke when you hit your target. despite the gun completely lacking sights, i was getting within 2' of my intended target (a red communist keyboard).
the owner managed to smack another keyboard and the damage was impressive! that is one fun device to shoot!
the lincoln town car took a beating...don't think it's gonna buff out. there was an mg34 that seemed too be magnatized to that car all day. cousino's 1919 cut-down also laid waste to the gas tank area.
just like the movie, "heat", the fnc 4-pos ripped 90 rounds of tracer out into the interior.
tannerite booms added bonus points to some well placed shots thru out the day.
just like the past bulletfest, the line stayed hot all day with a break for lunch (thanks for the burger, scott! it was great!).
thor_bullets and jack black hosted a first day filled with lots of fun and great folks.
tomorrow we will get back up, drink some coffee and see if we can fill the trash drums with brass!
