Christ. There is no justice.

Osama Bin Laden is looking more sane as each day passes when you hear s#%t like this. I know I shouldn't say that, but it's unfortunately true. He wouldn't bother with your guns, whereas this judge will.

If the appeals court is willing to consider the case Keith's lawyer should be able to get him released from prison.
Since the guy spent some 300 grand on his defense he should not have been considered a risk to flight in the first place.
I'm not familiar with his case? Can someone fill me in on any of the details?

Nick1950:

Here is a link to the press release concerning Chief's conviction:

http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/moe/press%20releases/archived%20press%20releases/2002%20press%20releases/november/baranski_keith.html

There has been a lot of discussion for and against the Chief over on the AK47.nutz board. One side argues that Chief merely imported the machineguns, and was unaware of the illegal dealings of James Carmi. Carmi subsequently turned on the Chief to try and save his own ass.

The other side argues Chief knew exactly what was going on, and deserves to go to jail for his illegal activities.

My comments are the "Readers Digest Condensed Version"-and not the whole story.

Not good!
This is not a case that would be easy to defend.
Since the charges stem from the governments authority to regulate foreign commerce, if what I garnered from the article is correct, the appeals court will probably not consider the case.
I am not sure on what grounds his attorney is going to appeal unless there was some other technical error committed by the court of original jurisdiction.
This is not a case of the right to keep and bear arms.
