Sold my last AR, and took this home from the fun show.

SLR-100H. The guy who sold it had spray-painted the wood black for whatever strange reason.

I've spent the day stripping the paint off the wood, so it looks pretty bad. Need a new set of furniture probably, but the internals, and metal park finish on the outside is in perfect condition. Can't wait to shoot it.

Who built it? Gordon Tech, Blue Ridge, MSC or another (can't remember who the other was).

I had 2 from MSC but sold them off.

Who built up the rifle? Gordon Tech, Blue Ridge, or MSC?

Triumph, milled AK-47's are about 1.5 lbs or so heavier than a stamped AKM.

SWEET! who did the build! DON'T replace the wood restore it! Strip it down using oven cleaner. Next "wash" it in a mixture of bleach, and water (75/25), then allow it to dry in the sun. Then dry over night in the house. Smooth it down with some 200grit , then400 grit, followed by 600. Hand rub a couple coats of boiled linseed oil in it. Finally (here is the family secret) bone the stock. Yes, you heard right "bone it". Take an old ham bone(some fat is ok), and literally rub the stock down with it just like you were sanding it. This process closes the pores, and locks the oils in.

Hmmm...I am really not understanding this...Could you explain...Kinda sounds like something Cerrano would do to his bat to please Jobu.

Boneing does make a difference,I used to keep a big rib bone around just for wood refinishing.

I wonder...does a gun stock rubbed in pig fat mean double death to a muslim who is shot by said weapon LOL....we should tell them our bullets are dipped in pig fat

If one of our bullets even wounds you you will not go to heaven......LOL damn I like it. great gun by the way.

Did some looking around on the "boning process"

I was petrified as to what google might come up with when I searched...

There were several baseball forums/faq's all talking about do this to wood bats...One even mentioned using smooth glass...I am guessing that its not the fact that its a bone, just that its hard and must force down the raised grain.

Are you sure its chromed?

Its actually supposed to be a Hungarian type III,but the Hungarian did'nt chrome line their bores.

Some of those built by the 4 builders used parts from another country, also. But can't remember which country, Poland(?).

No,they used chromium in the bbl steel itself.It made a really accurate type III.I had one with a dark bore but strong deep rifling,it was the most accurate AK I've ever had.

John, you're probably right. The bore reminds me of my Swiss K31. They didn't chrome their bores but used a chromium alloy in the barrel that looks the same.

the bore is shiny with rifling, no dark spots that I could find.

Just my $0.02...

I'd substitute Formby's Tung Oil Finish (Low Gloss) for the Boiled Linseed Oil. The wood on these AK's is usually beech and the Tung Oil will really bring out the highlights in it.

And the Tung Oil is easy to "touch up" from time to time if needed. Cleaning solvents generally mess up BLO and it won't look right again unless you completely strip the stock and start over again.

I wouldn't "bone it", either...but that's just me...

Is your muzzle nut still welded? I'd go with the U.S. slant brake MidWestArmory is supposed to get them in and seems to have the best price with inexpensive shipping.

BlitzGR10 has a milled Polish stockset on the EE for $60.00 shipped. It needs the buttplate, trapdoor and screws. Could stand to be stripped and refinished. It would take you a couple of hours total. Better jump on it.

Well, since everybody else is posting picture I might as well join in. This is also a MSC build and has run 100% since I got rid of the cut up Shepard's hook for the trigger pins. The bore is very good and the receiver is in the 1000 range so I assume this was a earlier build. The furniture has been replaced.

Most likey, but I sold a set of hanguards like that for about $40.00 which would leave $20.00 for the buttstock which by the looks of it is worth $60.00 on its own.

My new gt slr-100h on the rec its marked 0066,top cover,bolt and carrier 14096,spring is 12256.is this normal?top cover is hard to get on and off is that normal ?when where these made?This is my first milled ak sorry for all the questions.....finish and bore are perfect...also is has a windage adj rear sight,does that come on these or was it put on by someone? thanks

Yeagermeister,yes its normal to not have matching numbers on an SLR 100 H,the adjustable rear sight has been added.Sometimes the top covers can be a little tough.

Mark,you can always pick up a Polish type III handguard set.

unless that wood looks completely different in person, i think it looks great. it looks like its really been around and like its got some stories to tell. but i'm a sucker for the battlefield look- and that has it in the picture.
