Looks like the entire Tyler PD in that video! You've got to give that cop credit for jumping on the hood in exposed position to go take the fight to the bad guy.

I have seen another version of the footage and commentary that mentions the CCW holder.

Good  job the cop did but found it funny that his rifle is not termed a "assault rifle".

Did you guys see the white Dodge Ram in the backround when the badguy was getting shot. The guy looked like he wanted to drive through a gun fight.

Wow, media. "It was like a cannon. POW POW POW"  "designed for sharpsooting"

That shows the difference between concealment and cover. he may be behind a pickup, but he sure as hell and covered.

Doubt the driver of the truck "wanted" to drive through a gun fight. Like most people, it can take 5-10 seconds to analyze a threat and then react.

It is to bad no one at the court house had long guns. They should have. Its great that cop got a head shot so we do not have to pay all that tax $$$$ to keep that pig alive. Its sad all those people died though.

It would have been the same if the weapons were in opposite hands.

Agreed! I will be taking my AK to training at the end of September. I it going to be so dusty and dirty, i have more confidence in the AK platform in that environment.

Umm, CCW guys, if someone breaks out an assault rifle, please don't try to fight them with your carry weapon... :(

His name was Wilson.  Mike Wilson I guess.  He ran towards the sound of gunfire.  He's a hero.  A dead hero, but a hero nonetheless.

I found it extremely funny that his Colt Commando was described as "for precision work."

Kudos to the cop that put the shot in the back of the scumbags head. Clearly he was well trained and one brave dude.

Funny thing though, I never heard the AUTOMATIC rilfe fire the announcer mentions at the start of the clip.

Are you implying that a auto AK or G3. legally converted or not, is not by definition an assault rifle?

I dont see anything wrong with the term assault rifle, the 2nd ammendment doesnt apply to just hunting rifles, infact, it directly applies to military rifles, or assault rifles.

i have no problem with saying im wrong. i am just expressing my opinion on the matter and my opinion is that if you take the time and do it right fine if you just rigg it (most often unsafely) well you just messed up a perfectly good rifle.

It was not a "rigged" rifle.
It was a properly converted AK, and AR.
The AR was a Bushmaster XM15 that was converted with M16 FCG and M16 BCG - third hole was drilled to accept the auto-sear.
