okie dokie, another AK newbie question about builds. I saw that in the reference section there use to be a stickied topic covering the law about compliance, but it looks as though it has been archived. Can someone please give me the lowdown on this. I am looking at building a romy g kit and want to know what all I will have to buy in addition to the kit and receiver. So far, here is what I have planned:

Romy G kit from Bocefus : $119
G2 trigger kit : $28
NDS3 receiver : $55
Rivet set : $5.50

How many more U.S. parts do I need, and what parts would I have to select from?

No more  than ten of the AK's parts may be the original foriegn made stuff. An AK usually has 16 parts. So you need six USA parts to be compliant with the 922r rule.
The G2 fcg is three parts and your USA receiver is one. That leaves two parts to go. I like to use USA made gas pistons and slant brakes. But you can also get USA made furniture and USA made mag parts or even entire USA made mags.

I prefer to keep my compliance parts within the rifle so I can use any regular mags I wish to.

Many vendors off compliance parts packages with the fcg, gas piston and slant break all for about $50.

The 16 countable parts in a AK with a muzzle device.

(1) Receiver
(2) Barrel*
(3) Trunnion*
(4) Muzzle attachments
(5) Bolt*
(6) Bolt carrier*
(7) Gas piston
(8) Trigger
(9) Hammer
(10) Disconnecter
(11) Buttstock
(12) Pistol grip
(13) Forearm handguards
(14) Magazine body
(15) Follower
(16) Floorplate

To the best of my knowledge, the 5 parts marked with the * are only available Imported.
No more than 10 of the parts on this list, may be Imported, the rest must be of US mfg.

so you will need a all us mad mag that would be 6 out of 16 thats 10 imported.

someone tell me if im wrong.

Do you have reasons for your statement? Just wondering. I see no downside to the SS. The Tapco ones especially have a very high polish and clean up very easily. Although I don't see how a little soot in the finish would hurt them.

i was wondering that myself, what makes the chrome any better than the stainless? Has anyone had problems with theirs?

youll should i say should never have a problem with stainless. just like i would never have a problem with a standard bolt in my m4 but i got a chrome one cause its better. there is alot  of nickel in chrome. nickel is tough stuff. i think its dumb to pay money to put a lesser part or parts on your gun.
