I bought a bushmaster ak-74 brake for my ak and it will not screw on. It seems that the thread pitch is a little coarser than on my ak. I believe that the brakes thread pitch is 14x1.25 while on my ak it's 14x1. I also tried it on an AMD-65 kit barrel and it wouldn't screw onto it either but the AMDs brake will screw onto my ak no problem. Please be aware of this.

Bet that's because the B/M's are made to mil-spec !! (Choke, gasp, strangle, NOT !!)

My humble apologies but that B/M claim has always struck me as particularly ludicrous.

Are you sure you don't have one threaded for an AR 1/2" x 28?

It screws on for about one turn then stops. If it was for an ar-15, I doubt it would screw on at all. I think that they just got their thread pitch wrong. I will contact them on Monday.

Yeah, right hand vs. left hand thread should be obvious.

Believe it or not, 10 or so years ago, I purchased an AK-74 brake from Bushmaster for my Clayco AKS and it wouldn't go on either. I can't believe they haven't fixed it yet. I sent mine back. I wonder how many other people have purchased them.

I called them today and the response that I got is that the brakes are made for pre-ban chinese models only. I thought that 14x1 was standard for all models. Go figure.
