I've got a Hi-Power, but it is pre-pre-preban. It is covered in "dirty bird" marks, with no import stamp(they didn't import stamp guns that came in in GI footlockers)
Does anybody know where I can get a pair of WWII grips? the brown plastic ones for it? |

I thought the German-era Hi-Powers used wooden grips just like pre and post war production Hi-Powers?
That IMA site is pretty sweet. I may have to buy a holster from them for my immediate post-war Hi-Power (described in previous thread). |

I pushed the comoline out of these 2. They both had a brown bakelite type grip on them. 1 of the grips was broken on one of them. It has a wooden set on it now, but they weren't original.

The Germans used wood, brown bakelite and black bakelite. Bakelite would be more authentic for a later production weapon. Wood for earlier production. This is not an absolute rule though.
(All the wood was packed in hay on trains to the eastern front by 1944) |

Mine has a serial number of 50xxx with a (b) suffix, WaA140 proofed which again iirc is a late 43 or 44 production gun. My brother's is slotted for a stock, but a fixed rear sight, and I think it was a late '41 production.

1941, or 1941 and after (I can not remember which), if you attach the stock, it becomes class III.
With a 43 or 44 pistol I would go with bakelite - black. |

It originally had brown plastic, and that is what I am looking for if you ever find a set.

i woulda swore that shoulder stocks were perfectly legal for the hi-po, the broomhandle, the luger and, of course, the t-c (with proper bbl.). wasn't that shit grandfathered in?
i picked up a brand new (takeoff) pair of wood grips for $20 at the show this morning. one dealer wanted $50!!!!!!! aftermarket hi-caps were $12, military were $35 and belgian commercial were $40-45. and guess what? numrich sent me my new bbl. weight/front sight block! i'm still working on the original and will drop it in the park tank later this week. |

...well I picked up some black plastic ones this am at the show, not what I wanted but better than the wood.
