what is an easy, do-it-yourself way to recrown a barrel?

the barrel has been cut and is not crowned. do i just need to make sure the crown is even all the way around? It does effect accuracy right?

I've done some minor 'smithing, but I'm not a professional. Anyway, I'll tell ya how I recrowned my AK. First, lock the AK down in a padded vise with the action disassembled and unloaded (obviously). Second, I found a 5/8" masonry drill bit and chucked it into a high speed drill (at least 30,000 rpm). The final step, jam it in and out of the muzzle on full speed for 2 minutes, or until it easily slides in and out of the bore with no friction or sparks anymore. Thats it11 But you know, I cant for the life of me figure out why my AK shoots about a 20 yard group at 50 yards!

Dont hate me, I'm just being a jerk. Anyway, I am interested in replies to this as well. I have heard of people doing this with hand tools, but cannot remember what they were, or whether this method would be recommended. What is wrong with your crown, if you dont mind my asking?

I thought about doing a cut and recrown, then I found a guy to do it for under $40, PM me if you are intersted...(and no it's not me)

crowing dies are teh best way to go. you must keep it square with the barrel just like threading so the die comes with a bore guide you insert and then go to it with the die
