FWIW, most AKs that shoot 4 MOA at 100 yards are considered good shooters, and I've only seen 2 brands than can break the 2 MOA diameter at that range.
Average accuracy for a standard AK 7.62x39 is 4-6" at 100 yards. Mike |

ditch the irons for a scope. that's the only way i know of to extract any kind of sub 4" accuracy out of any ak (you watch...there will be 50 guys on this post claiming they get 2" groups with iron sights!).
there is nothing wrong with the saiga. in fact, it is among the best made of all kalashnikovs. there is nothing wrong with the saiga, but you must remember that you have several things working against you. most of the 7.62 x 39 ammunition is far from match quality...or even in the nato standards ballpark. secondly, the gas piston design may toss in a little less inherant acuracy. third, the notch and post sight is designed for fast target aquisition over moa accuracy. the notch is wide and the post is thick. fourth, the short sight radius works against target scores. fifth, chrome bore are not found on target rifles for good reason. try a scope and expiriment with different ammunition brands. like mr. wilson stated, 4-6" is about par for irons...maybe 3-4" with glass. |

Like Campy said "far more accurate AK's on the internet than on the range. I have 6 of them.I get 4"-6" 100 yard groups out of all of them except my Inrange 74.about2"- 3" and I believe if I could swap out for a peep sight it would close up more. I have never seen an MOA AK at the range.Only heard about them on the internet.I appreciate them for what they are.Instead of shooting at a beer can, put a gallon paint can in its place and youll be happy.. :) WarDawg

Sounds like your eyes do not like focusing on 3 things at long distances, esp with crude AK irons. Best bets are $90 for a PSO4x24, $140 for a Kobra, or $230 for a PO3.5x21. If you like blasting up to about 100yds, Kobra, Kobra, Kobra. The 1.8moa dot does not stop my SAR1 from getting 4-5" groups from rest at 100.
Saigas are good, match ammo will not work miracles due to the roomy chambers that make AKs so reliable, 4-6" is avg for 7.62x39. Find a round that gets 4" and stock up. |

OK, I'm in.
What's a Kobra? I have a side mount russian thingy which I got taken for at a gun show for $150 or so, real poor optics for a peasant's hunting rifle, is what it amounts to. Everything looks yellow through the scope. All the writing on the adjusting knobs is in russian so I can't decipher a thing. Left, right, up, down, etc. is all a guess on my part. I need to tinker with it some more, I guess. Now I know why they have 30 round mags for this thing. It's going to take 30 or more to hit anything. [:\] |

See the Kobra here: www.impactguns.com/store/russian_kobra2_html And their not as bad as all that tommygs, FWIW while not to be confused with tack-drivers, I have shot my Hungarian SA85M out to 400 yards and can place most rounds in under a foot diameter at that range, using just the irons, throwing old pre-Wolf Russian 123grn. Your scope has the yellow tinge that is common on all com-bloc optics except the PO3.5x21 in my experience. But they are Tonka Tuff and otherwise work quite well. Most all adjust by turning the top knob clockwise for point of impact down, and side knob clock for poi left. The lower lever also has adjustment so it goes from tight to loose in one throw.
Start with the glass that is paid for and see how it shoots. It is likely a 4x24 since those are by far the most common. |

My two Saiga conversions are the most accurate Ak's in my collection. Both average around 3" groups with Wolf ammo. One sports a 16" barrel and Kobra, the other a 14" barrel with a Ultimak mounted Aimpoint. Optics do wonders for the AK.
