Heres my SLR-105R...paid $420 for it...and $37 transfer fee (which is real high I know..).

Im tempting to buy a second one...its a sharp rifle.

I will get a better shot of it when I bring it outside..hopefully when I get to the range later this week...I tried to color balance it the best I could, but its just not right.

the second pic is much better...here it is alongside my SAR-1 and SAR-3...and my PTR is in the pic a bit also..

Just giving you a little mess.

You'll love it.  As soon as possible, escape to a free state.

I plan on it, believe me...  I do the best with what I can (the laws)..

I cant wait to try it out and see how it groups

I was so tempted to buy one of those about a month ago.  It was the neutered one, but I don't care... the FSB is an easy change and I don't care about a bayonet... maybe someday I'll get one.  I have too many kits right now.

I want another , I paid just $420 for it...should I or?  I just sold off a ton of mags, 2 optics, a NIB Kvar furn set...About $500 of stuff, I cleared like $250 or so....im really tempted..

At $420 is it worth to get another, and mod it out in the future?  The evil versions are like $600+.

I have 2 evil ones currently, and am thinking about a third.  I really love these things.  One is dressed in black and one is dressed in plum.  I may get a third to put a sidefolder and laminate handguards on.  One always accompanies me to the range (abandoned gravel pit) every time I go, which is at least 2-3 times a week.  My ammo budget is killing me.h.gif

2-3 times a week? I can imagine...    5.45s hard to find, unless you want to deal with backorders...heck even 7.62x39 ammos a pain to find...im down to a meager 200 rounds 5.45, which is just one more range trip in that caliber for me....thank god I got about 5k of other ammo types

(i know 5k rounds is nothing compared to some on the forums haha)

Dieter, I noticed you're from NY, I thought hi cap mags are forbidden, unless thier pre-ban.

That is correct.  According to the NY State Police, if they have no markings, they are preban.

Markings as in the year of manufacture? what about things like the number 21 in a circle. Does that count as not having any markings? Reason Im asking so many questions is Im moving to Long Island in 3-4 months and I have an slr-105a1r.

Well you cant have that rifle, period.  No threaded muzzles (that accept flash hiders or silencers), no bayo lug.  Also you CANNOT weld the brake into place and dremel off the lug, its STILL illegal, as you cannot make something NOT NY state compliant, into something that is.  It must be compliant from the factory.

Dont worry about 'high cap' mags...I have over 160 mags, all high capacity, none have dates on them...never had a problem.  No one questions the legality of them either.  Just dont run around with Promags, or new production Beta-C mags and you will be fine.

Dieter, what if my rifle was originally an slr-105r that I converted myself. The serial number would register it as as post ban, can I still make it ban coompliant as I REALLY don't want to get rid of the muzzle brake(fwiw, its not a flash hider which is banned).

Enough about me, I have a tough time hitting coke cans from about 100 yards with irons, but get yourself a Kobra and its a piece of cake. BTW what part of ny are you located?

I talked to a dealer not far from me, he said they cant "legally" get Glock handguns that come from the factory with high caps and resell them without the high caps, its still not legal, as thats the package.  Modification of a rifle that isnt originally NYS compliant into one that is, to my knowledge at least, isnt legal.

In reality, if you had a SLR with the removeable brake and lug on it, if you took the lug off and left the brake on, the only way someone would know its not legal would be if your removing the brake at a public range...no one spot checks weapons.  No one has questioned the legality of mine (though all are legal), but im not really affriad of it happening.  No I wont slap on my collapsable stock on my PTR and hit the range with it, but if your not 922 compliant, I wouldnt lose sleep over it, and if you had a brake threaded on and dont arrouse attention then I wouldnt worry.  The only way someone would know if your SLR isnt legal would be to run the numbers, see it was originally not NYS legal and then know every bit about the penal code and the rest of state law, in conjunction with having a piss poor day.  Will you be prosecuted or charged if your rifle isnt compliant 100% if you dont act stupid and do dumb things?  No.  Just like high caps, none of mine are dated, I have no evidence they ARE high cap...do I worry? no...am I breaking any laws? no.  No one can prove either way.  Any sort of threaded muzzles that accept anything other than a muzzle break are illegal, just remember that.

All in all...id lop off the bayo lug, and find a way to just ever so slightly 'permamently' affix that brake.  Then I wouldnt worry about it really...your best bet is to contact the NYS Pistol Permit bureau and ask them....or contact the Albany office of the NYS State Troopers, they will answer your questions to the the T, and they are the final say when it comes to the legalities.

I live near Albany (about 15-20min out), I goto school in Oneonta (1.5hrs west of Albany)...

Well, at least you will be in state....its too bad your moving INTO New York, as for the past 20-30 years people have been LEAVING it...(not the City though).

-----------

for that PTR question, its a PTR-91 Standard (AW Ban Compliant, for NYS law)
I threw on a JLD wide black insulated handguard...best upgrade for the money.  I have a collapsable stock on hand for it, just not installed...when/if I move out of state, its going on.

here it is, in original config , with crappy bipod which I dont use (used once at the range)
