Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - ??'s about refinishing the black metal AK parts

I seem to recall someone here posting information about how they refinished the metal parts of their AK by paiting them with a high-temp. resistant matt black paint ( similar to gas grill paint ). I'd like to clean up and refinish the metal on both my 74 and 47 in this manner if it really worked and came out well.
Has anyone here attempted this and had it come out nicely? By the way, can someone suggest a good source for muzzle brakes for post-ban AK's?

ak-usa and globaltrades both have usa made brakes that are batfe approved for use on post-ban rifles.

there are a variety of baked on laquers that work just fine for refinishing your firearms. try brownells for a source.
