I have an Arsenal ban-era SA M7 with a muzzle brake. Can it be removed & how? Is the muzzle threaded or can it be threaded?

Thanks in advance.

The M7 that I gave my father still has the muzzle brake on, and for the kind of shooting he does, just range stuff, I'm keeping it on since it's also a very effective muzzle brake.
