This is what I would like to do, have a set up with a quality scope & mount, what would be the better pick?

Between the calibers, I'm thinking .223 because of ammo choices. (match ammo)

Of the two barrel lengths, would the 20" be that much better than the 16"?

There is a shop in my area that has the 16" in .223

20" will get you an extra couple hundred FPS.  That's about it...that said, I'd go with the 20.  There are plenty of 16" AK variants, but few 20, so go with the 20.

take care,
Tec

Extra sight radius with irons will help the 20", and the 5.56 round is designed to get full burn/velocity form a 20" bbl. But the 16" will be more nimble and affect accuracy only in terms of drop over longer shots. The AR side should have  alink for velocity/bbl length.

This is the difference :
55gr 16"=3132  20"=3259 diff of 127fps
62gr 16"=2989  20"=3095 diff of 106fps

I am feeling like I want the 20" barrel

Also will this scope and mount set up be okay tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/pso/stats1p21.jpg

The other option is to get the mount only and use an american made scope, but I would like it to be all russian.
