I jsut got the email and already ordered a case!

I didn't even flinch at the $140/1000 shipped price, I just paid for it.  Slightly more expensive ammo in hand is better than cheap ammo that never materializes I figure!

You guys are nuts. Order it from sportsmans guide and it'll come in 2-4 weeks usually. For about 95/case shipped.

Also you can get it at cabelas.

If you weren't aware, SG has pushed off their backorder date a couple more weeks yet again and I have an AK with 0 rounds of ammunition right now. I also have been having a lot of probelms with SG sorting out my mailing address/IL drivers license/FOID.

I guess it seems cheap to me when 5.56 costs over $0.20 a round these days.

To each their own...

this is why I dont feel bad shooting 5.45, .308 etc...(which normally cost much more than 7.62x39)......these prices are outrageous

Sheesh, I am feeling less quilty about ordering everything in sight a few months ago.  $140 for Wolf is too much.  Of course if you have no ammo on hand what choice do you have when the supply is so limited.

Let's hope ammo will start to hit the supply chain soon and prices start coming back down.  This is crazy.

My only other option was Wolf HP for $5/box 20 at the gunshow or Yugo corrosive for $175/1000 at the local gunstore.  Compared to those, $140/1000 is a bargain!

I just ordered a case of 1000 Wolf fmj 7.62x39 from Centerfire for $129 shipped. They had it in stock.

Cheaper than Dirt has it in stock for about $140 per 1000 before shipping.

I got tired of SG moving their availability dates up too. The Marine Camp range I shoot at has some cheap ammo in stock for $2.40 per box of 20, but they don't have a whole lot in stock. I'd rather have ammo in hand when I go to the range! Then I'll buy what they have to replace it on my way out.

Seems pretty expensive, but I guess by definition, we all have money to burn, so who am I to comment?

Dawg, I can understand paying a little too much when you have none. I keep 600 rds. set aside that is not for the range. I shoot something else if I am that low. I think $140 is way too high, but a gun with no ammo is useless.

Remember to also keep an eye on the EE.  Over the past year, I have bought four cases of 7.62x39 for well under $.10 a round from local members.

Backorder 2000 Rnds at SG and do they 4 pay. By the time you get it, order another 1000...

I have said this many times. There is not a cutoff of ammo supply, just a huge demand. Those who order every couple of months get the deal. Those who wait till the last minute get to pay alot.

I just went to the Cabelas in hamburg, pa and they had none. The counter guy said they were getting very little shipped to the store and that as soon as it hits the shelves it sells out...

Wow, after shipping that has to be over .15/round for Wolf.

As long as your happy I guess.

Personally I'm not that desperate yet.

Well, I do feel a bit hseepish now for paying $0.14 a round for ammo, but like I said before, the only stuff I have been able to find beyonf that has been $0.15 to $0.20+ a round.

Besides, without the ammo my new AK is nothing more than a $400 club, so if I got to pay a little extra so I can actaully shoot it for the first time, so be it.  I would feel REALLY stuid if it turned out SG took 3 or 4 months to get the ammo in, or worse yet cancelled my backorder because it languished too long.

Whatever, I just got a pay raise yesterday, so I can afford the damn $40 more than SG.  So there!

I have 9 Ak's, and am down to a few hundred rounds, and was getting worried about the supply of 7.62 ammo...when I saw that ammoman had some in stock finally, I immediatly ordred some, and have no guilt for what I paid...YMMV

I got 3K stashed but decided to get back to reloading for it, have a shitload of components stashed away going to use them up.  Was reloading for 762x39 before the cheap Wolf and other stuff came on the mkt, couldnt compete so I gave up reloading that caliber, now it's back where I started!
