I bought a cut down 74 barrel off the EE. From what I know it is the barrel, trunnion, bolt & carrier only. This means no rear site leaf, front site, gas block, etc. I would like to buy a cheap Romanian kit to use as a donor. Will the romanian parts work on the 74 or am I gonna have to dish out some more cash to get the right parts from KVar. Im looking for some cheap options to get the required parts to complete this kit.

Im guessing you are wanting to build a pistol since you have the cutdown barrel. Since the entire front end is going to be modified you should be able to turn the barrel down to fit a slant gasblock and std fsb. Obviously you will have to shorten the gastube and piston.

I already have a fake can made up to extend the barrel to just over 16". Is the 74 barrel thicker than the romanian 47 barrel? So the only thing that would be required to make it work is to turn the barrel down enough for the gas block & front site to fit. I know the gas tube & what not needs to be modified my main worry is the gas block & front site or any other major parts that would not be usable without heavy modification.

bolt /carrier wont fit either
but most the rest of the parts can be made to fit

I got a 74 bolt & carrier I just need the barrel parts. Are there any better options other than using a Romanian kit as a doner?

i would look for some nutless saiga parts if i was you
they usally go for 5 bucks or so each

then you can cut and weld them back together and have a combo block
