I was at the gun show today and saw some Bulgarian 5.56mm mags. There was a note that said they work in .223 Norinco rifles. Is this true?

thanks,
Ron

I have gotten the 'Waffle' ones to work, but it took some modification with a horseshoeing rasp to get them to fit and feed properly.

I trust them for the range, but NOT in a combat situation.

Dr. C,
I have heard that they work too. BTW, how much were the mags going for?

The mags were $29 but I didn't get a chance to go back and purchase any. I didn't want to spend that much on mags for stuff that I can't depend on 100%. I might as well start looking for some Norinco mags.

thanks,
Ron

I have used Bugarian 223 mags in my AK and they all worked fine. I bought six of them and they all function fine for me.

No modification needed? That sounds like good news if so!

thanks,
Ron

Yes, plug and play for me on Norico AK 223. I have tried the 5.45 and they will not feed properley with more than about 18 to 20 rounds but all my Bulgarian waffle mags work fine with no modification.

Tried only one Bulgarian waffle mag so far in the BWK-92, fit and function was perfect.
