I called the gun shop and it has arrived.
Dang.... 4 hours to go until I get out of work.
I'll learn 2 things with this purchase.
1) How decent the Romak-3/PSL is.
2) How good is the customer service of Classic Arms Inc.
General fit/finish report and pics to follow later.
Any tips from fellow Romak-3/PSL owners on this board?
It's supposed to come with the Romy 4x scope. I'll start out with that.
Yes, I've heard about that ammo. The bummer is no one has that yet locally.
I'm not a Romak owner either, but I thought I would say "congrats"....
I love that feeling of picking up a brand new rifle, and the anticipation before it arrives.
Enjoy, and as you mentioned - post up pics.
Congrats Ripcode, I too hope to be a Romak III owner someday. I like Krinkfreaks idea of using the Global Trades SVD style flash-hider.
Where do you get just the barrel???
What a day!
I get to the gun shop and open the package. My dealer realizes that Classic Arms Inc. is a distributor and has to charge me 10% plus the 6% sales tax. What I thought was going to be a $20 transfer cost me $75. It was supposed to be $96 but he cut me a break....
I ordered this rifle by sending my dealers FFL and credit card info to CAI. According to my dealer I can't do this (He said he didn't realize they were a distributor when I got a copy of his FFL). I called CAI and they said I could.
I've done transfers through him from individuals before with no problem. Did I get jacked?
After that expense I could have bought one at a show for only a few bucks more and HAND PICKED it.
Ah welll.... I got one now.
Overview of the Romak-3/PSL (Which by the way is marked FPK Dragunov on the receiver).
Fit and finish of the metal is decent. Better than SAR-1 finishes and WAY better than a WASR-10 finish.
It came with all the goodies you see in the pic. I like that they shipped it in plastic case.
The rubber eyepiece is usless unless it uncrunches over time.
The cleaning rod (which is three sections) has one section that I think someone threw in to replace a missing one. It looks well used compared to the others and doesn't mate with the other sections.
The sling looked good from afar but is heavily cracked and soiled.
The wood finish is okay. I'll think it needs to be stripped and re-done, but I was kind of expecting that.
Some kind of cheek is going to be needed for proper scope use.
All little things I can fix. I just have to throw more money at it!
I can't wait to get it out to test fire. I do like the heft and feel of this rifle.
Range report will be a ways off, but as soon as I can fit it in!
Thank you KF! That is Sweet!!
