Does anyone have a Saiga and a VEPR 308 mag? How similar are they? Do you think a Saiga mag could be filed on a bit and fit in a VEPR? Those new 308 Saiga Hi Caps look pretty good.

I've got both. I have some galil mags for the vepr but never got around to doing the grinding on the rifle to make them fit.
I'll look into the saiga mag possibility |

no go. They are a bit too long and a bit too wide for the Vepr magwell.
sorry. Maybe after the saiga mag deal gets rolling and profitable they'll do some vepr mags. The Vepr is the one that I need mags for. I have 5 saiga mags but only two vepr mags, and I ain't paying Alex $50 for another one |

Thanks MRW. To bad. To wide I can handle, to long could be overcome possibly by moving the triggerguard/mag catch back -- way to much work for me.
How do the Gallils look? Maybe I'll give them a shot. My VEP has the long bbl. so I don't really need the Hi Caps. Dang. Too little time, too little money, and too little patience.

The galils require squaring off the front corners of the rifle's magwell (removing a bit of trunion material) and grinding the round rivit heads flat that are located in the inside front part of the magwell.
I didn't mind the squaring job, but grinding down the heads of rivets that hold the trunion in gives me bad mojo. |

I have 4 wo round VEPR mags and 1 5 round. I would be happy with about 10 more 10 rounders...But I am in the boat with MWR....I think I am gonna really start looking into cheap mags that will fit the vepr...with a little modding the gun or mag...I read thing about doing it with FAL mags, But there was a bunch of stuff to it.....G3 mags would be the best way to go.
