I was looking at a Suomi drum and it has the same design and it was made earlier. I don't know what a Thompson drum looks like inside but that may be earlier. So who came up with this design?

I've posted this in the two other places here and no one has come up with an answer.

I should clarify my post:

The Suomi drum uses the same general design as the AK drum.  Obviously, the AK drum came out after the Suomi drum.  So did the Soviets borrow the design which was then borrowed by the Chinese?  Does the original design come from the Thompson drum magazine (I don't know what it looks like inside but it would be an earlier design)?

Thanks Jicky, but I have checked that out.  I'm actually trying to build a semi-auto Suomi M31.  Unfortunately, that article doesn't answer the question.

Don't you mean the Type-81 LMG drum?

OK, I found this:

Drum magazines most frequently available in the civilian marketplace are of mainland Chinese origin. Chinese 75-rd and 100-rd drums were originally designed for Type 81 and Type 74 light machine guns, respectively. These Chinese LMGs have virtually no relationship to a Soviet RPK, but magazines bear somewhat of a resemblance to the Thompson SMG drum magazines.
