How short is too short?  Do people shorten the piston as well as the gas tube?

Just wondering in case I have a need to build a C2 or C3 AK very very short.

The guy who made those is out of Texas.
Down in the build it yourself/ AK section there are a few posts and even a VID of him shooting the super-shorty. It makes a fireball in broad daylight.
